Dec 8 – Dec 16, 2025
Most, if not all Christendom, over history has felt that the Lord’s return was near at hand. Often it’s the state of the world we live in. Or just a sense we as a group or individuals have.
Matthew 24 paints a clear picture leading up to Christ’s return.
- And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
- And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
These are the signs we are looking at, among others, that give us a sense of Christ’s return.
But, as we see in Mark 13: 32 – 33

- “But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
- Take heed , watch and pray for you do not know when the time is.
The question then is, what is our responsibility as Christians as the time approaches.
- To watch and pray quite simply.
- To share the salvation message with one and all.
- To concentrate our efforts on the simple truths of the Gospel and the invitation of John 3:16.
George Mueller, a leader among the Plymouth Brethren, once shared this testimony.
“WOW The thoughts and concerns from someone in 1829, 200 years ago. Yet here we are in 2025 going to 2026 and the situation has changed little, in fact I see it as worse than in 1829.
In any case each generation sees things according to the comparisons. Our world certainly looks like the description in Matthew 24. What has changed? Nothing!
So as we look around us, and see what’s happening in the world, we should be doing all we can to bring Salvation to a lost world. Therein lies the simplicity of the state of affairs. The world is full of lost sinners. We as Christians have a responsibility to share the Gospel whenever and wherever we can. That makes our task quite simple. We have only to make it happen.
Please make it an important part of your prayer time to pray for the lost, both known and unknown. The time is short, the task is great and our responsibility is simple.
