Musings on God’s Word
First: let me wish each of you a God Blessed Christmas.
Second:This “Happenings” will cover two(2) weeks as I won’t be putting one out next week.
For those of you that have received our family Christmas letter (Ecard) you will know we talk about the REAL reason to celebrate Christmas and the REAL and most important gift that every Christian has received.
I am talking about the birth of the Savior “Jesus”.
This is a non gift family Christmas this year so we plan to enjoy the remembrance of the celebration and the family get-together to appreciate the importance of family and friends.
Our Faith in Jesus is, of course, the important aspect of a Christians life. But, our family and friends are the next valuable relationships we have.
As I considered the baby Jesus and his entry on earth I was reminded of the ignominious beginning He had. Born in a manger in a building to house livestock, there is not much lower a situation that one can imagine for a baby to be born in. This baby, who would become the sacrifice for the sins of the world, entered life in a lowly set of circumstances and lost His life in the worst possible way.
With all of that in mind I am reminded of the titles and descriptions given to our Savior that are many and varied but cover a wide range that could only be applied to our Savior
Our Savior – Titles & Descriptions
- Emmanuel
- The Word
- Prince Of Peace
- Shepherd
- Lord
- Worthy One
- God With Us
- Light Of The World
- The Risen One
The name that is prominent at this time of year is “JESUS“. With everything the world has done “to” Christmas I would pray that our Christian witness stays strong and at this time of the year even stronger.
My wife wears a pin that says “Jesus is the reason for the season” . That pin receives some interesting attention as we are out and about, some positive and some not so much. However, we find it is one way to bear witness to the reason for the season and our Faith.
We trust and pray that each of you can find a way to present the simple gospel message at this time of year when we reiterate that the celebration of Christmas is to bring to the world’s attention that our Saviour was born and came to earth as a baby with the ultimate destiny to die on a cross for our sins and the sins of the world.
The Old Testament gave us a heads up!

God Bless each of you and may I sincerely wish each of you a Very Merry and God Blessed Christmas
There is a Christmas hymn we don’t sing often so I thought I would share it here.
That Beautiful Name 1)I know of a name, A beautiful name, That angels bro't down to earth; They whispered it low One night long ago, To a maiden of lowly birth. Chorus That beautiful name, That beautiful name, From sin has power to free us! That beautiful name, That wonderful name, That matchless name is Jesus! 2)I know of a name, A beautiful name, That unto a Babe was given; The stars glittered bright Thro'out that glad night, And angels praised God in heav’n. 3) The One of that name, My Savior became, My Savior of Calvary; My sins nailed Him there, My burdens He bare. He suffered all this for me. 4) I love that blest name, That wonderful name, Made higher than all in heaven; ’Twas whispered, I know, In my heart long ago, To Jesus my life I’ve given.
