Musings on God’s Word
I’m sure you, like me, have had moments in your life where you asked the question. “Where is the Joy in my Life?”
I pray that you also like me reject that question for the fact that the Joys of life come often, and more often than not are what we make of our life that brings Joy.
There are the three (3) pillars of life for my family that look like this.
“FAITH”, “FAMILY”, & “FRIENDS”
Notice I put “FAITH” first because I firmly believe that our faith in Jesus Christ establishes the “Joys of life” that we need.
Webster’s dictionary describes “JOY as “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness”.
Where do those feelings come from?
From those things in life that give us a sense of security and strength.
In Ezra 6:22 we read.
- They kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with JOY; for the LORD made them JOYFUL. . . . . .
Does the Lord make you joyful? He should, as his desire is to have his followers, (Christians) be joyful as an example to the rest of the world.
Psalm 4:7
- You have put gladness in my heart. More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
We should be joyful over our relationship with Jesus. More even than those secular events in life, that provide some sense of happiness.
We need Jesus in our life to give us the Joy of Salvation, the Joy of Family and the Joy of Friends.
If our Joy in Christ is true we can overcome and endure the difficult things that come our way.
Luke 2:10
- And the angel said to them. “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great JOY that will be for ALL the people.
The JOY of Salvation gained through our faith and trust in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
The Joy of celebrating the birth of Christ as our Savior can and should be one of the greatest joys in life. The Joy of fellowship with fellow believers should be the joy that brings us together for services, fellowship and singing which strengthens our faith.
Speaking of singing – Do you remember this chorus we used to sing in Sunday School?
I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy
1) "I've got the Joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I've got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay
Chorus
And I'm so happy, so very happy
I've got the love of Jesus in my heart.
Down in my heart.
And I'm so happy, so very happy
I've got the love of Jesus in my heart.
Last but not least is a hymn that speaks of the “Joy in serving Jesus”.
Joy in serving Jesus
1) There is joy in serving Jesus,
As I journey on my way,
Joy that fills the heart with praises,
Ev'ry hour and ev'ry day
Chorus
There is joy, joy Joy in serving Jesus'
Joy that throbs within my heart;
Ev'ry moment, ev'ry hour, As I draw upon His power,
There is joy, joy, Joy that never shall depart.
2) There is joy in serving Jesus,
Joy that triumphs over pain,
Fills my soul with heaven's music,
Till I join the glad refrain.
If our outlook on life is closely walking with our Savior and working to please Him.
He will see that JOY overcomes all that life can throw at us.
FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS THE THREE PILLARS OF LIVING A JOY FILLED LIFE.
