As I sit at my computer and consider the week we are in, I am drawn to consider the state of the world we inhabit along with some discussion which took place at the Men’s fellowship this morning.

What is that rest from? From the cares and turmoil and unrest of the world we live in. Who brings us that rest? From our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Rest from the turmoil of the world.
If you, like me, hear any news or read any news it is full of the serious unrest that pervades our world. The powers that be and the people sitting in the seats of leadership seem to be infected with a desire to control and run things in a way that serves their personal wants and desires, not the needs of the world.
We are in the middle of the week where we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Last Sunday was Palm Sunday. The people of the day were celebratory as Jesus rode into the city. Laying down palm leaves and praising Jesus. Yet before the week was out they turned on Jesus. Particularly the hierarchy of the Jewish leadership. Why? Because of the selfishness of the leadership. All they thought about was their own positions in the Jewish Faith and they wanted to keep their positions of authority and prestige. In no time at all they had turned the people against Jesus and led the charge to crucify Jesus.
It shows us how easily people can be misdirected by foolish and evil men when these people desire their own way. Are there examples of that in our world of unrest? Of course, it’s where most of the world’s troubles come from.
Crucifixion came on Friday but praise God, Jesus rose triumphantly from the dead on Sunday.
We have much to celebrate and we need not be concerned about the unrest of the world.

Here is our Hymn of Hope for the world’s future.
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
1) Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Saviour
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Chorus
Up from the grave He arose,
with a mighty triumph o'er His foes
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever with His saints to reign
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
2) Vainly they watch His bed--Jesus, my Savior!
Vainly they seal the dead-- Jesus my Lord!
3) Death cannot keep his prey--Jesus my Savior
He tore the bars away--Jesus my Lord!
