Musings on God’s Word
I was worried I wouldn’t be able to put out my email this week. My computer did a bad thing on Tuesday and Wednesday. It quit. My techie friends were consulted. In the end I pulled all the plugs and plugged them back in. Viola! it worked.
It reminded me of a country song I saw the words to this week. The chorus goes like this.
Things Change
Things change, don’t blink your eyes, Cause if you do, they’ll pass you by
About the time you think you’ve locked it in, Things change, then change again.
That song reminded me of a Hymn and chorus we used to sing titled
That song reminded me of a Hymn and chorus we used to sing
Yesterday, Today, Forever
Verse 1
Oh, how sweet the glorious message simple faith may claim
Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same
Still He loves to save the sinful, heal the sick and lame,
Cheer the mourner, still the tempest, glory to His name
Refrain
Yesterday, today, forever, Jesus is the same,
All may change, but Jesus never, glory to His name!
Glory to His name! Glory to His name
All may change, but Jesus never glory to His name!
Verse 2
He who was the friend of sinners seeks the lost one now:
Sinner, come and at His footstool penitently bow;
He who said, “I’ll not condemn thee, go and sin no more.”
Speaks to thee that word of pardon as in days of yore.
Verse 3
Oft on earth, He healed the sufferer by His mighty hand:
Still our sicknesses and sorrows go at His command;
He who gave His healing virtue to a woman’s touch
To the faith that claims His fullness still will give as much
Verse 4
As He walked once to Emmaus, with them to abide,
So thro’ all life’s way He walketh ever near our side;
Soon again we shall behold Him hasten, Lord, the day
But ’twill still be this same Jesus as He went away.
The source of that hymn is found in –
Hebrews 13:8
- “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever,” nkjv
Things continue to change here on earth but in the Christians world our rock and our fortress Jesus Christ never changes. He stays with us always, through the good and the bad. Our Savior is the steadfast “Rock of ages”
Hebrews 7:24- 25
- But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.
- Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Jesus is our intermediary and speaks on our behalf with a never failing zeal.
Malachi 3:6
- For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob
The promises of God are yea and amen.
He will never forget us or fail us.
We can trust him wholly!
Praise the Lord for his “never changing” faithfulness.
God’s richest blessing on you all
