Our trip to the prairies was a great event which gave us some great memories of time spent with family and friends.
A trip through the three provinces reminds one of the beauty of God’s creation: the rugged, snow-capped mountains as we passed through Rogers Pass, then the Alberta foothills and into the prairies—still rolling at first, but in due course the very flat prairies of Saskatchewan.
I mentioned this at hymn sing, but it bears repeating.
We were awed at the hundreds of cattle on the rolling hills as we travelled along. Even among our cousins and families, one branch owns 650 cattle for breeding purposes, with hundreds of calves born each spring to be sold.
As we passed by these cattle on the rolling hills, my wife reminded me of a chorus we used to sing at Sunday School and youth group:
He Owns the Cattle on a Thousand Hills ↗

The beauty of God’s creation is a testimony of God’s love for each of us. We need to appreciate and enjoy what God has provided and see it as proof that it is God’s creation, NOT an accident of nature. Therefore, we need to love and respect Him and His creation.
Verse 6 of Psalm 50 reads:
“Let the heavens declare His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge. Selah.”
Psalm 50:6
When I think of the turmoil, tribulation and trouble in our world, I turn to God’s Word to bring me back to the understanding of God’s preeminence and love for mankind as part of His created world.
Psalm 50, verse 11 goes on to say:
“I know all the birds of the mountains, and the wild beasts of the field are Mine.”
Psalm 50:11
Then in verse 14 we are reminded to:
“Offer to God thanksgiving…”
Psalm 50:14 (excerpt)
And finally, in verse 15 we are encouraged to:
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
Psalm 50:15
If we take the time to look around us, we are reminded time and time again of the awesomeness of God. His creation speaks of His power and majesty.
While we are the creatures of His creation, we get to enjoy the creation, and as born-again Christians we can dwell in His world and His salvation.
PRAISE THE LORD!
