Musings on God’s Word
John 14: 1-3
- Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2)”In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3)”And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself: that where I am, there you may be also.
Jesus shared these comments in the upper room the night before the cross. With men who had spent the last three years as students and teachers alongside the Savior.
Even hearing these words from Jesus Himself there was still a level of doubt within the group of Disciples.
Matthew 28:17
- And when they saw Him they worshiped Him: but some doubted.
Luke 24: 10-11
- It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles.
- And their words seemed to them like idle tales, and they did not believe them.
In verses 13 and on we read about the event where certain disciples were on a road travelling to Emmaus and Jesus came along and they did not recognize Him.
We see numerous instances of lack of belief, understanding and recognition where Jesus had previously given them much information about what was going to happen and what will happen in due course. Yet, still among these close brethren there was lack of belief and understanding. How strong is our Faith? As Christians are we clear in our minds about who Jesus is, What He has done and what Jesus continues to do for each of us who claim Faith in Christ?
It was pointed out this morning at the men’s Bible study how God’s love is a 2 way street. We have been loved beyond understanding by and through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior. We need to reciprocate that love for a Savior who suffered and bled and died for our sins and gave us the “keys” to Heaven with Jesus for eternity.
Let’s keep our Love for Jesus strong and may it manifest itself in Love for others. Friends and Foes alike.
Loved With Everlasting Love
1. Loved with everlasting love, led by grace that love to know.
Spirit, breathing from above thou has taught me it is so.
Oh, this full and perfect peace! Oh, this transport all divine!
In a love which cannot cease. I am His, and He is mine.
2. Heaven above is softer blue, Earth around is sweeter green
Something lives in every hue Christless eyes have never seen
Birds with gladder songs o’erflow, Flow’rs with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as now I know, I am His, and He is mine.
3. Things that once were wild alarms, cannot now disturb my rest
Close in everlasting arms, Pillowed on the loving breast.
Oh, to lie forever here, Doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear, I am His, and He is mine.
4. His forever, only His: Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss Christ can fill the loving heart
Heaven and earth may fade and Firstborn light in gloom decline:
But, while God and I shall be, I am His, and He is mine.
Jesus’ death and resurrection show His love for us! How do we show our Love for Him?
God’s richest blessing on you all
