As you all know hymns are very special to me. This week I recalled a hymn that I don’t think we’ve sung recently and it turned into this week’s devotion.

My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
1)Standing on the promises of Christ my KIng! 
Thro' eternal ages let His praises ring;
Glory in the highest I will shout and sing, 
Standing on the promises of God.

2)  Standing on the promises that cannot fail, 
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail, 
Standing on the promises of God
3)  Standing on the promises, I now can see
perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
standing on the promises of God. 
4)Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,
bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s Sword,
standing on the promises of God.
5) Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
list'ning ev'ry moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God.

So what are those promises we are “standing” on? Let’s have a look.

Notice it says “need” not “want”. There are, of course, many needs in life with most of them being very basic. Food, clothing, health etc. But even those may not be available sometimes and that’s when we are totally dependent on God’s promises.  No matter what we have Heaven our home to look forward to and there His riches in glory are endless and inexhaustible.

Fear is something that attacks everyone in life.

What is the answer?

A personal relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ is the only answer to fears that come in life. The verse clearly states that we should never be dismayed at what God can and will supply. Our requests and needs can include it all.

One thing for certain God expects us to expect his support although it might be to give us patience and not necessarily the needs themselves.

I love the following scripture which captures all of God’s resources we have available.

What more can we ask for?

God’s mercy and love so far exceeds anything we can suffer during our earthly existence.

In Isaiah 41:10 we see that God’s promise is to always to be with us no matter what

Our God and Savior is Faithful when we fail, Loving when we are unlovable and our complete strength when we are weak.
