Musings on God’s Word
Romans 1:20
- For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that THEY are without excuse.
“THEY” being everyone who has ever lived and enjoyed or even noticed the wonders of God’s creation.
We are reminded of God’s handiwork in the following hymn.
Pray Till the Light Breaks Through
Verse 1
For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth, over and around us lies
Chorus
Christ, our Lord, to you we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise.
Verse 2
For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night,
hill and vale and tree and flower, sun and moon and stars of light.
Verse 3
For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth, and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild.
Verse 4
For Yourself, best gift divine, to the world so freely given,
agent of God’s grand design: peace on earth and joy in heaven.
The writer of this hymn, F.S. Pierpont was sitting on a hilltop outside of Bath England in 1863, admiring the country view and the Avon River below. He was inspired to write the hymn based on the view he had.
It made me think of the wonder of God’s creation. The plants, the animals, the fish, and finally Mankind. What a wonderful place we were given to look after on God’s behalf.
His creation also shows his power and majesty and that no one should dispute His existence. That verse in Romans tells us that mankind is WITHOUT EXCUSE for rejecting God’s existence. When we marvel at the creation God gave us to enjoy there really is no reason to reject God as the creator and Jesus as our Savior.
So then we ask the question. How is it that so many, down through History have rejected God and Jesus Christ and instead tried to fill the vacuum with idols of many kinds. Whether it’s a man made idol or an idol of power, wealth or fame. None of those things can replace God our Father and Jesus our Saviour.
Yet, what does man do? In an effort to justify denying the existence of God man comes up with many and various other things and beliefs that will satisfy nothing.
Hebrews 11:3
- By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
John 1:3
- All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
God’s word supplies all the answers and His creation is the proof.
God’s richest blessing on you all
