Musings on God’s Word
As is the case most weeks. Something I read or hear about gives me a subject for my devotional. This week it is the word “Crown or Crowns”. To begin, let me share a hymn that came to mind.
Crown Him With Many Crowns
Verse 1
Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne.
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee,
and hail Him as thy matchless king, through all eternity.
Verse 2
Crown Him the Lord of Life, Who triumphed o’er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save;
His glories now we sing who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.
Verse 3
Crown Him the Lord of love; behold His hands and side,
rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified;
no angels in the sky can fully bear that sight,
but downward bends their burning eye at mysteries so bright.
Verse 4
Crown Him the Lord of years, the potentate of time,
creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.
All hail, Redeemer, hail! for Thou hast died for me;
thy praise shall never, never fail throughout eternity.
The issue of crowns speaks of royalty, importance and position. Only Jesus Christ and God are deserving of wearing a crown or crowns as the hymn speaks to.
What brought it to my attention this week is the story of a South African lady who won Miss Universe in 2017. She has since written a book titled “A Crown that lasts”. In it she speaks of the feeling she had at the end of her year of reign when the crown had to be given up. For a while it left her with a feeling of emptiness and unimportance until she examined her life and realized that crown was of little importance in the scheme of things. She reminded everyone that the most issue was where we spend eternity
When we think of a crown, we think of a King. There is only one King worthy to wear the crown and that is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
There are five (5) crowns mentioned in the New Testament that will be awarded to believers in Heaven.
In 1 Corinthians 9:25 Paul talks about an IMPERISHABLE crown as opposed to any crown given here on earth which is subject to decay and destruction.
1 Thessalonians 2:19 tells about the CROWN OF REJOICING in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming. We are told to rejoice always. In the good and the bad.
2 Timothy 4:8 Finally, there is laid up for me the CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. Praise the Lord!
A crown of glory 1 Peter 5:4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the CROWN OF GLORY that does not fade away.
A crown of Life Revelation 2:10 clearly states. ………………………….Be faithful until death, and I will give you the CROWN OF LIFE.
So we can see clearly that the crowns available to believers so far exceed any crown we can get on earth. Any accolade. Any compliment, Any position. Any wealth or any power. The Crowns that will come as Christians are the only crowns worth thinking about.
Keep going on in faith and look for the crowns that Christ will give in His eternal glory.
God’s richest blessing on you all

I am new to BC and looking for a church that has beautiful worship music (not the 7/11 sort where 7 words are said 11 times), good biblical messages, and a bible study group during daylight.hours. I love the songs I heard on your online broadcast so I know that is great. Do you have a daylight weekly bible study? Thank you for your reply.
There is a ladies bible study Friday mornings from 10 am to noon. This page has our calendar of events on it. https://braeroadgospelchapel.ca/calendar/
