Musings on God’s Word
The last couple of weeks have been a time of loss of loved ones. Thankfully most were “Born again Believers” However it can be a time of reflection and remembrance as we recall wonderful times of joy with these folks both recently and in times past. The Ryan family have lost another faithful Christian in Lois’s brother Chris, who went on to be with His Lord and Savior a week ago. We also heard of the loss of Gwen Bastedo’s sister and also of her Grandson. Our Sincere condolences go out to these folks and their families. My family also saw the passing of a cousin. Unfortunately not a Christian, as far as I know. My brother and I have great memories of him when we were young and had our first vehicles. He owned a garage in those days and took care of repairs to our vehicles. Sometimes we paid him by pumping gas for him at his station. What is sad and difficult is that particular branch of the family failed to find the Lord’s saving grace.
These passing’s reminded me again of our duty to win the lost and share our faith with everyone we can. We have a secure Hope in Jesus and that should encourage us to share our Salvation message wherever and whenever possible.
As is often the case it reminded me of a hymn I’d like to share at this time.
My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less
Verse 1
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name
Refrain
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand
Verse 2
When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil
Verse 3
His Oath, His covenant, His blood, supports me in the ‘whelming flood
When all around my soul gives way He then is all my hope and stay.
Verse 4
When He shall come with trumpet sound, Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne
Here we have the truth of Salvation wrapped up in a hymn. The hymn is written around the parable found in Matthew 7:24-27 of the wise and foolish builders who built houses on the rock or the sand. There is no better way than to have our faith based on the “Rock Christ Jesus”
God’s richest blessing on you all
