Before I proceed with this week’s update, I would like to look back over the past week or so and reflect on some things.

  • First the ladies had a visit from Darlene Oppel with a good attendance and I am informed that it was a blessed time together.
  • This past Sunday we had our first Potluck in our newly renovated kitchen and fellowship hall (after the fire) which was a great time of fellowship. It was primarily held to honor and say goodbye to the students from Capernwray. We have so enjoyed having these young people with us and trust the Lord will send us a similar group next year. Having these young folks in our midst attending both Breaking of Bread and our regular service has been a real blessing. In addition each one of them was asked and provided a testimony on a Sunday morning service. They opened their hearts to us and it gave us a good insight into who each of them are. We pray earnestly for the future whatever it may be and trust God’s leading in their lives.
  • Our assembly men also met for the 2nd time this past Tuesday and had a joyous time together including breakfast. There were 14 men in attendance and we continued to look at Psalm 119 spending time studying the first 8 verses and also sharing some things that were on each other’s mind and heart. We will continue in Psalms but will leave it open to look at other scripture in the future. Our plan is to have two Tuesdays a month with breakfast and the other weeks just a time of prayer, bible study and fellowship.

In looking at Psalm 119 it was noted that there are Blessings that hinge on actions. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the Lord! Those first 8 verses show us the blessings available from following God’s will in our lives. It reminded me of a familiar Hymn “Trust and Obey” .

Verse 1
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still
And with all who will trust and obey

Refrain
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey

Verse 2
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil He doth richly repay,
not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blest if we trust and obey.

Verse 3
But we never can prove the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay,
for the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows, are for them who will trust and obey.

Verse 4
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet, or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do where He sends we will go, never fear, only trust and obey.
