Musings on God’s Word
As you all are aware we will be enjoying a Keenagers luncheon this Thursday and part of what makes an event like this happen is “Planning Ahead”. Lots of planning and preparation. As my wife reminded me there is much in life that requires planning ahead but as humans there are also things we seem to avoid when it comes to thinking ahead. Some of us are good at planning others seem to let things occur which often leads to disappointment or frustration or worse yet, disaster. There is a very important matter that needs certainty when it comes to planning ahead and that is our spiritual state. Our relationship with Jesus. Simply put. Salvation.
Many in Society seem to stumble from one problem to another due to lack of planning or at the very least not considering the consequences of certain decisions or lack of decisions.
What does scripture tell us about planning ahead which includes life after physical death.
Proverbs 16:3
- Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
In other words if the Lord is part of your planning then you know your plans are in his will.
Proverbs 16:9
- A man’s heart deviseth his way; but the Lord directeth his steps.
Yes when we are following the Lord we know that God will direct our decision making and lead us in the right direction. God also is fully aware of our future and knows what the results will be from our decisions. That’s why all our decisions should be made in conjunction with the leading of the Lord. Leading through prayer, scripture reading and advice from Godly friends and family. We have so much in the way of resources that any decision or plan we make should go well if the right resources are tapped into before the plan is made.
Now, let’s get down to the most important plan of all. Our future beyond our life on earth. If our life is not given over to our Lord and Savior we are heading down a path of destruction. Planning is certainly important. We plan our day. We plan to do certain things. We do spend a lot of time planning many things in our life. But sadly too often the plan for life after death is not made or put off assuming one will take care of it later. Which is often the case even for some simple earthly things. We can plan a party, we can plan a trip, we can plan for retirement. But all plans are subject to change. Our health, our family, our friends can all have an impact on our plans. There is only one certainty in life and that’s death. So let’s be sure our own life is centred around our Lord and Savior and our eternity with Him in Heaven is secured. Next to that let’s make sure all our family and friends know about planning their future. Share, share, share!
John 3:16 The Gospel in a “Nutshell”
- For God So Loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God’s richest blessing on you all
