Scripture

This past week has been a week of many different things. Weather issues, Christmas celebrations, People’s concerns over health matters and relationships. Somehow Christmas seems to be a time of extremes. We often find family relationships can bring out the best and the worst at these times. This year we faced an extreme weather situation which has caused many people problems trying to get places to celebrate or vacation. Our lives are also turned upside down by events and situations in the world around us. Inflation is taking a toll on our costs of living while the Covid pandemic and related flu illnesses are also taking place. Humanly speaking we often find ourselves in difficult situations due to being human and making poor decisions or the result of poor decisions made by others. More often than not we see humans not considering the consequences of our actions until those consequences occur.  But, one thing we know as Christians there is an unchanging God and Jesus his Son that should be our steadying factor in everything. As I think about the frailties of humans compared to the nature of God I found a verse that I believe could be a verse for 2023.

1 Chronicles 29:11-13

  1. Yours, O Lord, is greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Your; Yours in the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.
  2. Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all, In your hand is power and might; In your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.
  3. “Now therefore, our God, We thank You and Praise your glorious name”

So let’s move into 2023 knowing that Our God is over all and in control of all and our lives are in his hands. Praise God.
