Once again I’m back to share things for this week in our lives.
I was thinking about a phrase that Ben Yablonski shared with us on Sunday reminding us of the Promises in God’s word.
“Forget the problems, Remember the Promises”
Scripture
Joshua 1:9
- This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Hebrews 10:23
- Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
Isaiah 54:10
- Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Romans 15:13
- May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
These thoughts also brought to mind an old hymn that I hadn’t heard for years.
God Hath Not Promised (written by Annie Johnson Flint, 1866 to 1932)
God has not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through
God has not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
Chorus;
But God has promised strength for the day.
Rest for the labor, light for the way.
Grace for the trials, help from above,
Unfailing kindness, undying love.
God has not promised we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe,
He has not told us we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care
Chorus……………………………….
God has not promised smooth roads and wide,
Swift, easy travel, needing no guide
Never a mountain rocky and steep.
Never a river turbid and deep
Chorus…………………………….
Don’t forget I will be at the chapel from 10am to noon on Mondays if for any reason you need to drop by and chat or check out the building. This may become more interesting as time goes by.
Prayers
- Anne Suais: Has been prescribed some new pills to manage her pain which seems to be working quite well, allowing her to sleep better at night. Her home care workers come at uncertain times making things a little difficult but manageable. Her daughter Carol returns to work on March 28th so that will remove some caregiving, but Anne feels she can handle it. Going to try and increase her exercise to get stronger on her feet. Still much prayer needed.!
- Elinor Bell: coming along quite well with some minor adventuring out. keep praying.
- Frank Timmermans; Needing extra prayer to handle the surgery planned for April 8th to clear the growth on his esophagus.
- John Stegeman: Keep praying for John’s comfort as he deals with the ongoing heart valve issue. Nothing surgical to be done. But medication to handle.
- Sonia Galbraith: took a tumble and as a result has a sprained wrist.
- Dorothea Weir: who along with her husband Bill, was a member of Brae Road Chapel. Dorothea is going through some dark times causing her to suggest divorce. Please pray for her spiritual healing and a resolution to their issues. Dorothea is the Mother of Chapel member John Neundorf who has requested we pray.
Chapel Update
Still nothing on our reconstruction timeline but should be underway by April 15th, all things being equal.
Don’t forget I will be at the chapel from 10am to noon on Mondays if for any reason you need to drop by and chat or check out the building. This may become more interesting as time goes by.
Doug has done some checking on major kitchen appliances and it would appear that to ensure they will be available when needed some price checking should be done and delivery schedules ascertained. A couple of couples may want to take this on and report back with information gathered.
God Bless!
