Musings on God’s Word
As I write this on Wednesday the 5th of April I am thinking of the fact we are in the middle of Easter Week. Last Sunday was Palm Sunday a day of great celebration. Friday is Good Friday a day of much evil. Then Sunday, Easter Sunday, a day of wonderful revelation.
When we look back over the past couple of years we see much has happened in our lives and the life of Brae Road Gospel Chapel. Death of members, COVID, and our fire, just to name some of them. We currently think of those whose health is failing or at least going through some rough times right now. With all of the above in mind I would remind us of just how important this week is. Everything else pales in comparison to the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Yes we face trials and tribulations, pain and discomfort or upheaval in our own or families lives. Yet again, none of that compares to the sacrifice our Savior went through for ALL of us. The name Good Friday is a bit of a misnomer since it was the day the Savior went through multiple trials, beatings and derision, including those, who a short time earlier, had praised Him and welcomed Him into Jerusalem but were now deriding him and wishing him put to death. This with the leading of the Jewish leadership.
Philippians 2:8
- And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
There was nothing more demeaning in Roman days than being put to death on a cross. Suffering and shame were the by products of the death on the cross. Our Savior suffered that for you and I. May we never forget. This is why we brethren remember the Lord’s supper every Sunday morning so as to continually remind us of His death on our behalf.
On the other hand Easter Sunday is a joyous celebration. Our Savior defeated death, rose again and now sits at the right hand of his Father God. I recently was leading a hymn sing at one of the local seniors homes and the hymn we sang contained the line “Lamb of God”. At the end of the song one attendee asked what the “Lamb of God” meant. I was pleased to inform her that Jesus took the place of the many past sacrifices that had been made by lambs and other animals and became the one and only sacrificial “Lamb ” for us. No more sacrifices needed to be made. Jesus was the sacrifice “once for all”.
Romans 6: 10-11
- For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
- Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let us use this week and it’s celebrations to remember our Lord and Savior and the sacrifice He made for our sins. Praise the Lord, we are righteous in his sight in spite of our frailties and weakness.
Amen.

Dear Mr Peake. My wife Nicki and I fellowshipped at Brae Rd until fall of 1995 before we moved to 100 Mile House. Many of your people will still remember us. As new Christians we were decipled by Sid Biggs, Paul Brammel, Terry Ryan to name a few. We still have a keen interest in Brae Rd.. Would it be OK to phone you just to know who may still be around as well as who is in leadership. Thank you
