Musings on God’s Word
Men’s Fellowship this morning was studying John: 8 which included some wide ranging discussion. During that discussion we were reminded of a song by John Lennon called “Imagine”
The words of this song are really an indictment of the world we live in. It begins with,
Imagine
No hell below us, Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people Livin’ for today”
Let’s stop here. I believe if there was no Heaven or Hell, there would be no God and our earth would not exist.
When God created the earth He was fully aware of what man would do. After creating man and man’s downfall, Heaven and Hell had to exist in order to fulfill God’s plan.
Failure to obey, failure to listen, and failure to accept God’s plan leads to only one result: Hell.
Obeying, listening, and following as we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior brings us to Heaven.
It’s obvious that John Lennon failed to accept God and His existence. Failing to believe there was a God led John to believe that without these things the world would be in perfect peace.
John’s utopian world which talks about no possessions, a brotherhood of man with no need for greed or hunger. No countries, which in fact God created along with everything else.
At the end of the song John talks about a perfect world. A perfect world is only attainable through Jesus Christ and perfectly describes Heaven.
So! The conclusion is that Heaven and Hell do exist and for a good reason. God planned it that way.
God was fully aware of how man would behave and continues to behave. Salvation is the only opportunity to move towards the utopian world John Lennon talked about and it will only exist in Heaven.
John tried to eliminate God from the equation but that’s impossible.
Without God there is no world and because of the world and man’s behavior there is a need for Heaven and Hell.
We can dream about a perfect world as John Lennon did. Unfortunately to eliminate God from the picture and failing to realize that man is born sinful there is no way to have a perfect world.
The only perfect place will be Heaven with our Lord and Saviour.
Matthew 25: 31
- When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
The next verses talk about the difference between the saved and the unsaved. Clearly showing the existence of Heaven and Hell.
Matthew 25: 46
- and these will go away in everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Our decisions, our Faith and our behavior are all part of our decision to follow Christ and the difference between going to Hell or Heaven.
I am trusting that all of my 89 recipients of this email are on their way to Heaven. If anyone is not sure please talk to one of our elders or anyone whose Salvation is sure and find out what makes the difference.
God’s richest blessing on you all
