Musings on God’s Word
Hymns are one of my favorite ways of dispensing the truth of Salvation and all that it entails.
Be in Time
Verse 1
Life at best is very brief, like the falling of a leaf,
Like the binding of a sheaf, Be in time.
Fleeting days are telling fast, That the die will soon be cast
And the fatal line be passed, Be in time.
Refrain
Be in time, be in time, While the voice of Jesus calls you, be in time.
If in sin you longer wait you may find no open gate,
And your cry be just too late, be in time.
Verse 2
Fairest flowers soon decay, Youth and beauty pass away,
Oh, you have not long to stay, Be in time.
While God’s Spirit bids you come, Sinner do not longer roam
Lest you seal your helpless doom, Be in time.
Verse 3
Time is gliding swiftly by, Death and judgment draweth nigh.
To the arms of Jesus fly, Be in time.
Oh, I pray you count the cost, Ere the fatal line be crossed
And your soul in hell be lost, Be in time.
Verse 4
Sinner, heed the warning voice, Make the Lord your final choice,
Then all Heaven will rejoice, Be in time
Come from darkness into light, come, let Jesus make you right,
Come, and start for Heav’n tonight, Be in time.
As you can see this hymn is aimed at the lost, the sinner, the unsaved but there is a reason for those of us saved ones to also “Be in time”.
How do we spend our time, what value do we place on our time?
Time for Prayer, time for Bible reading, Time in church both Worship and Communion. As Christians our time is valuable too.
Time with unsaved friends, being prepared to share the gospel. Not with a 2 X 4 but with love and compassion.
We have just as much responsibility for our time as the poor lost souls outside Salvation.
2 Peter 3:8-9
- But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
- The Lord is not slack concerning His promise as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
John 9:4
- I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
Proverbs 16:9
- A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
So you can see time is important in both the unsaved and the saved.
For the unsaved their time is running out and soon it will be too late.
For the saved our time is also running out but we can look forward to time in eternity with our Savior.
Let’s make the best possible use of our time for the sake of both ourselves and the unsaved.
God Bless each of you as you serve Him with your time.
God’s richest blessing on you all
