I ran across some information about a man I’m sure you all have heard of. Steven Hawking. According to the world’s standards a very intelligent man.
He declared himself an Atheist and had some interesting views on people like us who have a faith in God and a certain sure hope for eternity.
Mr. Hawking proclaimed the concept of an afterlife as a “fairy story for people afraid of the dark”. He went on to say. “We are free to believe what we want and it is my view (Hawkings) that the simplest explanation is there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate.” Additionally he went on to say “There is probably no heaven and no afterlife either.”
I found it interesting that he used the word probably. It would seem there was still some doubt in his beliefs. Sadly he died and has now found out the truth about his beliefs.
If I could, I would refer Steven to some passages of scripture that he needed to read.
Isaiah 42:5
- Thus says God the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it.
Job 12:7-10
- But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; and the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
- or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; and the fish of the sea will explain to you.
- Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this,
- In whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind
Colossians 1:15
- For by Him all things were created……………..
Psalm 19:1
- The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament show His handiwork.
Genesis 1:1
- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
I thank God every day for his creation and the joy I can have in it as well as the security of knowing my sins are forgiven and my hope is in Eternity with our Lord and Savior.
A Hymn we haven’t sung in a while spells it out like this.
For the Beauty of the Earth
Verse 1
For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies.
For the love which from our birth, over and around us lies.
Chorus
Christ, our Lord to you we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise
God keeps His promise; His word is true Just keep on praying till the light breaks through
Verse 2
For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night
Hill and vale and tree and flower, sun and moon and stars of light
Verse 3
.For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child
friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild
Verse 4
For Yourself best gift divine to the world so freely given
agent of God’s grand design peace on earth and joy in Heaven
We as believers have the joy and privilege of seeing God in everything and know our faith will see us through.
God’s richest blessing on you all
