We have entered the week leading up to Easter and I wanted to share some thoughts on Love since the Love of Christ is exemplified at Easter. The world replaces love with such things as lust, desire, want and many other things but seems to have lost sight of what real love is. The hymn that I have previously used applies today as much as ever “The Love of God is Greater Far Than Tongue or Pen Can Ever Tell”. Yes God’s love exceeds anything we can think or imagine that has anything to do with love. In our case, as Christians, Loving God is a commandment.
In God’s Word we find numerous commandments and like following all the commandments, loving God brings good into our lives.
Matthew 22:37
- You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. That pretty much covers how big our Love for the Lord should be.
It’s not a commandment because God fears that we will not love Him unless He commands us to. Rather, it is a commandment because God alone is worthy to be loved. It is the only appropriate response to make toward One who loves as He loves.
Easter shows us the height, length, breadth and depth of God’s Love. God allowed his only Son to suffer the indignities and pain of death on the cross to show His love for us – mankind. We must never forget this sacrifice on our behalf.
While we remember the sacrifice we cannot forget the conclusion.
Up from the grave He arose. with a mighty triumph o’er his foes.
He arose the victor from the dark domain and He lives forever with His saints to reign
What a picture of love and sacrifice for human kind. For those of us “Born again Christians” we have a message of love for the world.
Easter is NOT eggs, rabbits or chocolates it’s a message of love and salvation from God Himself.
1 Corinthians 13; 4-7 nkjv describes so clearly what love should be all about.
- Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
- does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
- does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
- bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
This is the recipe for living the Christian Life in this world of sin and degradation.
Praise the Lord for all that He has done for each and everyone of us.
God Bless you as you take this special occasion to remember the great sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Happy Easter!!
God’s richest blessing on you all
