There was a chorus we used to sing in Sunday School and Youth group title “If you want Joy, Real Joy”. The words are simple but go like this. Some of you may remember it.

If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy.
Let Jesus come into your heart
If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy
Let Jesus into your heart
Your sins he’ll wash away
Your night he’ll turn to day
Your life he’ll make it over anew
If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy
Let Jesus come into your heart.

As we listen to the news, or read a newspaper or check our cell phones we are hearing mostly unhappiness, crime, evil and all things unjoyful. Yet when we present the Gospel to people we find so often that it is rejected out of hand, as not for them, without giving it any consideration at all. On the other hand the world is searching for peace, joy and satisfaction in life. We are familiar with the Joy that comes from knowing Jesus Christ and letting him come into our hearts and lives.

Psalm 16 :11

  1. You will show me the path of life; In your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Can anyone ask for anything more than that? A wonderful gift from our Lord and Saviour that supersedes anything the world can offer. Yet searching for joy and pleasure is a full time action for many.

Luke 2: 10–11

  1. Then the angel said to them “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
  2. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.

WOW! What more can one ask for. Here we have the entire picture in two verses. Our Saviour came to earth to bring joy and peace to the world. The only criteria is to accept this free gift. Here is where the problem lies. Too much unwillingness to accept this gift and enjoy the peace and joy that comes from it.

Our Saviour gave us instructions.

Matthew 28: 19 -20

  1. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
  2. and teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Joy and peace are available to all. Heavenly peace and assurance with one simple act. Accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as one’s personal Saviour. Let’s share that message wherever we can.
