This week it has been hard not to think of the conflict in Israel and Ukraine in relation to Matthew 24. At this moment in time there are 32 conflicts going on in our world (18 Terrorist insurgency, 9 civil wars, 2 drug wars, 2 WARS, 1 ethnic violence).
Matthew 24:6
And you will hear of wars and rumors of war. See that you are NOT troubled; for all these things MUST come to pass, BUT the end is not yet.
I note the words “BUT the end is not yet“. I’m sure, like me, the events of the last few years and few days would lead you to say the “End is Near”. However, it would seem to say at the end of the verse “Not Yet”. Why? Because there is still more to come.
Many of the world’s countries, cultures and tribes have not heard. Our task is clear! Spreading the Gospel should be our number 1 task. Jesus told us after his resurrection in
Mark 16:15
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Truly a direct command. Our Lord demands it, our world needs it, and our command is to do it. We can enjoy our time at chapel, fellowship at a Bible study and at Keenagers but our primary purpose is to follow God’s direction and find ways to bring the lost souls to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Should we concern ourselves about what is going on in the world?
No!
Should we be aware of what’s happening?
Yes.
This awareness will drive us to do our best to share the Gospel message with one and all in whatever way possible.
Matthew 24: 12-13
And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold”. We see that all around us!
But he who endures to the end shall be saved”. Endurance is key in the world of sin we dwell in!
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come”. I will leave it up to you to interpret this verse, as for me I believe we have work to do. Each bible believing, gospel preaching entity is charged with doing everything we can to share our message of salvation. Our Task is clear. Our message is clear. We just need to do it.
